26. James Henry Bascom Owens (64) was born on Sep 8 1851 in Canton, Madison, Miss.. He died on Mar 14 1899 in Delhi Cemetery, Richland Parish, Louisiana.(64) James Bascom died of pneumonia. He was survived by his widow and three small daughters: Anna Pauline, Emma Lillian, and Nanita. The Owen homeplace is now occupied by the Delhi school and pecan trees planted by Jim Owen are still standing.

James B. Owen lived in Richland Parish as early as 1880 when he purchased land from his brother Stephen in Madison Parish Oct. 21, 1880 known as "Mounds Place" on Bayou Macon.

"Jim Owen was part owner of a cotton gin and also farmed, owning acreage in DelhI. His records show that he was far ahead of the average farmer at that time in his methods and plans. He had the only fruit orchard and grape arbor in the community. He owned livestock and had purchased the only Angus bull known. ( We called him the Black Boy.)

Married at the residence of Capt. J.M. Davis, on the Hermitage plantation in Franklin parish, on Sunday Nov. 19, at 3 o'clock p.m. Mr. James B. Owen of Delhi, to Miss Helen Hudnall of Natchez, Miss. Rev. J.S. Shaw officiating. Among the number of friends fortunate enough to be present were: Mesers. Eugene and Leon Karpe and Mr. R.H. Hawley of Delhi, Mr. and Mrs John Trezevant and Miss Trezevant, Mr. and Mrs. Ragland, Drs. James Trezevant and Nash Collins of Franklin Parish. After the ceremony was over the guest repaired to the dining roon, where a sumptuous repast awaited them. "the Pressette" was substantially remembered and in return joins the many friends of the happy couple extending congratulations and best wishes for their future. 1900 Census Richland Parish, Delhi, La.: Helen C. is a 24 yr. old widow, Anna P. is 5yrs., Emma is 3yrs. and Naneta is 1 yr.

Helen Cordelia Hudnall was born on Nov 19 1874 in Monticello, Miss.. She died on Dec 30 1925 in Monroe , La. Riverview Cemetery. James Henry Bascom Owens and Helen Cordelia Hudnall had the following children:
