Claude R. Monnett Sr., age 58, passed away suddenly Saturday at his fa rm on
Cloverdale R.1.
He was born May 1, 1902 in Greencastle the son of Edward and Mollie Jacks on
Monnett. Mr. Monnett was employed as a guard at the State Farm.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Lena Whalen Monnett; seven sons Robert, Green castle;
Claude Jr.. Cloverdale, R. 1; Eugene, Cloverdale R. 3: Lyle, Braz il Melvin and
Johnny, Cloverdale, Thomas, Chicago Heights, Ill. Three bro thers, Glen Monnett,
Sr, Greencastle, Bernard Monnett Mooresville, Fred M onnett, San Joe, Calif.;
eleven grandchildren. A son, James preceded h im in death
Funeral will he held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the Whitaker Funeral Ho me
in Greencastle. The Rev. Allen Harlan will he in charge. Burial wi ll he In Forest
Hill cemetery.

He was married to Lena May Whalen (daughter
of Lewis Walter Whalen and Olive Rosemond
McCarty) on Jun 29 1925 in Clay County, IN. Lena May Whalen
was born on Jul 13 1905 in Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana.
